Charles Sandford can fulfill requests for one-off and out-of-the-ordinary timber objects - from exquisite mementos to pieces of theatrical fantasy. A background in film, music and theatre has given him a singular expertise in creating props and working models for the stage and film set. His specialty is in devices that carry out a particular function, that need to move and need to work within certain tolerances. Examples of his versatility are a diving-bell helmet surfaced in fiberglass, a bronze-coated sword and scabbard and a full-sized articulated robot for a theatre production. For the ABC-TV Rubbery Figures production he built custom-built camera moving equipment, including miniature jib arms and dollying equipment. He also creates beautifully crafted custom-designed gifts and other special items that can't be bought off the shelf - bowls, miniature spoons, turned bowls, timber eggs. Whatever can be drafted on a piece of paper, Charles can turn into timber form. |
